Invoicing Apps That Make Life Easier

invoicing apps that make life easier

The days of carbon copy invoices are rapidly ending as businesses and clients alike are looking for electronic solutions.  Business teams on the go need to be able to track time and invoice quickly.  Tracking time on the go reduces the chance of lost time (lost money): having that time dialed into your invoicing platform for quick and easy invoicing improves cash flow and client relations.

Stop losing employee time by using excel sheets or paper time logs.  These days most of us can barely remember what we ate for lunch.  Using a fun and functional app that allows your employees to quickly log what they’re doing when they’re doing it ensures your employees won’t miss logging small details (like that extra part they had to provide or the 15 minutes they ran over).

Get ahead of your competition and your cash flow by invoicing your clients quickly.  The trades are notorious for not getting invoices out in a timely fashion; often sending invoices long after the satisfaction of having a job well done has faded.  This can lead to disgruntled customers (and disgruntled customers are more likely to question their charges).  Equally important if you’re not getting your invoices out – you’re not getting paid!  Using a time tracking / invoicing app saves you the work of having to go home at the end of your already long day and start adding up timesheets and running after contractors and employees for time logs.  With the click of  button most apps will let you turn that logged time into an invoice.

So, without further ado – here are a few of our favourite apps for logging time and invoicing on the go.

Jobber

Jobber is a very popular app for trades that are on the go and with a couple of teams on the road.  It’s a pretty popular app so the chance that your team members have come across it before is high.  Jobber is great for entering your leads, quoting, and invoicing.  Your team can track their time and you can assign them jobs.  While on the road they can add notes and adjust pricing and invoice on the spot or simply add notes for you to adjust pricing and send out invoices with a  quick review.  There’s GPS tracking if you want to keep track of your team on the road.  New to using this kind of software, they have Jobber Academy with industry specific tips and best practices.  The only fault we’ve seen thus far with Jobber is the QuickBooks online integration – there are often 1 cent rounding errors which will require your bookkeeper to go and clear out a bunch of 1 cent amounts owing / over-payments.  On the whole this is a really great app for helping you scale up your business.

T-Sheets

We use T-Sheets and we’re big fans.  T-sheets will not let your team invoice on the go – but they will let them track time on the go for you to easily import into QuickBooks online and invoice when ready.  T-Sheet’s has recently been bought by Intuit (QuickBooks) and so the integration between the two is becoming increasingly seamless.  If you add a client, contractor or employee to QBO it will auto import to TSheets.  You can schedule your contractors or employees so they are only logging into the jobs you’ve assigned.  Crew Leads can see at a glance who is working and where.  This is a great app for payroll and invoicing.  Your team can clock in and out at beginning and end of day and then throughout the day log their time to appropriate jobs, lunch, breaks etc.. With the proper setup you generate reports right within Tsheets that will let you know the Labour Ratio of each job.

Of course, this is only a small sampling of three apps.  Try googling “best invoicing apps” and you will get over 5 Million results.  Trying to decide on the perfect app often results in choice overload – and the result can be no choice at all.
