Nothing feels better than getting together with people you enjoy and doing something great. Last Friday It’s Your Time co-hosted a Shoreline Cleanup with our colleagues at Fresh Start Recycling and Disposal and Reeve Consulting. Our goal was to clean English Bay beach, deepen our relationships with each other and make some new friends. Each box got ticked!
We were joined by 45 volunteers made up of friendly fresh faces and lots of familiar ones too. Thanks to Keep Vancouver Spectacular for all the safety gear including gloves, pick up sticks, and more, along with some great door prizes!!
The Fresh Start crew wins the award for finding the most garbage – They kicked our butts! We guess it’s because it’s their profession. Most of us found a disheartening amount of cigarette butts and pop can tabs. We were received warmly by beach goers and residence alike as many of participants were given warm thanks by people on the beach – it made bending down to pick up the 200th cigarette butt that much easier!
All in all, we had a wonderful time. Thanks to the party planning skills of Trina, we were able to relax and mingle at the Bayside Lounge after a job well done.
There were many requests for us to make this an annual event as it was such a great way to wrap up the week; so, keep your eyes open for next year!
